Factors that cause deteriorization in 8mm film

Factors that cause deteriorization in 8mm film

Fungus, molds, and mildew cause the film emulsion to deteriorate.

Humidity 0ver 60% causes pieces of emulsion to come off and also promotes the growth of fungi, mold, and mildew.

Not enough humidity dries the film. The edges shrink lengthwise causing and the film buckle.

Loose winding when in a low humid environment causes the film to twist having distortion in the image.

When the film is rewound and fast-forwarded, static electricity is created and this attracts the particles.
