Factors that cause deteriorization in 8mm film
- Fungus, molds, and mildew cause the film emulsion to deteriorate
- Humidity 0ver 60% causes pieces of emulsion to come off and also promotes the growth of fungi, mold, and mildew
- Not enough humidity dries the film. The edges shrink lengthwise causing and the film buckle
- Loose winding when in a low humid environment causes the film to twist having distortion in the image
- When the film is rewound and fast-forwarded, static electricity is created and this attracts the particles
