Text documents do not need to be scanned at as high of a resolution as images. 300 ppi is sufficient if you merely want a copy of plain text. If it is hand written than we suggest 400 ppi. If written with a fountain pen, than 500 ppi. For text documents that you would like some clean up or restoration done than it is best to scan at 600 ppi.
